Red Violet Morning is another in my current Iris Series. Irises are a wonderful opportunity to paint colorfully - and believe me, I use all the colors on my palette! The deep purples are a mixture of Prussian blue and/or ultramarine blue and Winsor purple. With the addition of pink (!) or crimson, lots of lovely red-violets start to appear. Background is mostly Naples yellow with white. Cobalt blue always creates beautiful purples and lavenders. Second photo shows detail from the upper right of this iris portrait.
