Twinkle Toes

Twinkle Toes
11x14 Watercolor on 300# Cold Press
SOLD TO A COLLECTOR IN OHIO
Got my watercolor palette out last Thursday for our weekly Greenbrier Artists meeting at Carnegie, so I decided to put it to use yesterday in the studio. Watercolor is perfect for cats, more so than acrylic or oil, I think. Soft kittens deserve lots of soft color washes and layers of pink paint! This kitty's blanket is Naples Yellow by WN and the blue background is Periwinkle Blue by Cheap Joe. His fur has lots of Prussian Blue, Diox Purple and Burnt Sienna in varying mixtures, while his face has layering in both Raw and Burnt Sienna. Permanent Rose paw pads, nose and ears, of course. Whiskers, some paw fur and little white chin are Titanium White gouache. Transparent yellow, Green-Gold and Burnt Sienna for his eyes. All paints are WN except the Periwinkle Blue. Cobalt Blue would also have worked well in the background. Your cat comments are always welcome. Email me at catcards@frontiernet.net for purchase or shipping details, or this painting may be purchased through DailyPaintWorks - just click on the flashing slideshow on the right side of this blog.
