I painted these bright red poppies while at my friend Rose's house this past weekend. It's always fun to paint with a fellow artist and talk about art. I used five red/orange/pink colors in the poppy petals: Quin. red, cad red med, Quin. magenta, cad orange, and Quin Rose deep. Foliage is cobalt blue with cad yellow deep and Naples yellow. Background colors include Prussian blue, Quin magenta, burnt sienna and touches of cobalt blue. Poppy center is same mixture as background without the cobalt. Poppies are the best!
