Another in my red and pink poppy series - just because they are so fun to paint! Underpainting has three colors this time: cad orange, quin rose and brilliant purple. I like to use three colors, especially in the foliage area, so they can peek through as wildflowers in amongst the foliage. I think the key to a good poppy painting is vigorous brushwork along with lots of juicy paint. More poppies to come! Your comments are always welcome.
