This big calico was painted yesterday with my regular limited palette, and underpainted with the regular cad orange method. Instead of using cobalt blue in the background color, I used my Prussian Blue, adding Naples yellow, a bit of Quin Magenta and Titanium white. Browns in his coat are varying mixtures of Prussian Blue and Cad red light. Quin Rose deep was used in a mixture with Naples yellow for the lighter, cool beige-browns in his undercoat. Undertones in his white fur are cobalt blue, Naples yellow and/or pink. Those big eyes are cobalt and cad yellow deep with highlights of Naples yellow.
